Delta Magic wins $18,000 grant from USDA

We’re thrilled to announce that Delta Magic has been awarded an impressive $18,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) through its Rural Business Development Grant program! This grant marks a significant step forward in our ongoing mission to build the capacity and collaboration of Helena and Phillips County.

A Vision for Downtown Helena

One of the primary focuses of this grant will be the development of a comprehensive real estate plan for downtown Helena. This initiative aims to revitalize our cherished downtown area, making it more attractive for businesses, residents, and visitors alike. By fostering an environment where local businesses can thrive, we’re not only preserving the unique character of Helena but also laying the groundwork for economic growth and community engagement.

A real estate development plan is a strategy for redevelopment for our downtown. As part of this grant we are partnering with Downtown Redevelopment Services to create this strategy. Over a period of several months we will conduct a thorough audit of our building inventory downtown, the current condition of each, the current owners and uses, and will then make recommendations based on that information. The idea is to get a good sense of what we have and compare that to what we need to then make a clear plan forward. Delta Magic will then use that plan to partner with organizations like the Chamber of Commerce, A&P Commission, Main Street Helena, the Planning Commission, and other statewide partners to attract individuals seeking to provide the businesses or services recommended.

Building Connections: A Shared Community Calendar

Another exciting aspect of the grant is the creation of a more robust community calendar. This shared resource will be a collaborative effort among multiple organizations in Phillips County. By centralizing our events and activities, we aim to promote greater participation and connection within our community. Whether it’s a local festival, a farmers market, or educational workshops, the community calendar will ensure that no one misses out on the vibrant life of Helena.

Empowering Local Organizations: A New Chamber of Commerce Website

Additionally, the grant will fund a new website for the Phillips County Chamber of Commerce. In today’s digital age, a strong online presence is crucial for any organization. This new platform will not only enhance communication with local businesses but will also serve as a hub for information, resources, and events in Phillips County. With an updated and user-friendly design, we hope to empower our local organizations and foster a stronger sense of community.

A Commitment to Collaboration

At Delta Magic, we believe that collaboration is key to sustainable growth. This grant represents not just a financial boost but also a commitment to working together to build a brighter future for our community. We’re excited to partner with local organizations, businesses, and residents to bring these plans to life.

Looking Ahead

As we embark on this journey, we invite everyone in Phillips County to join us. Your input, participation, and enthusiasm are what will make these initiatives truly successful. Together, we can create a thriving downtown Helena that reflects our shared values and aspirations.

We’re grateful for the USDA’s support and are eager to see the positive impact of this grant unfold in our community. Here’s to a new chapter for Delta Magic and a revitalized Downtown Helena! Stay tuned for updates on our progress and upcoming events—we can’t wait to share this journey with you!
